Lee Spencer (002)

Lee S., PT, DPT, CKTP, Clinic Manager

Lee was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Hendrix College and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St Louis. After graduating, he spent 4 years active duty Air Force as a performance and software engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After leaving active duty, Lee worked for a private engineering company as a systems engineer as well as served in the Air Force Reserves as an intelligence officer. During this time as an engineer, he realized he was not passionate about the engineering career field.

As a competitive runner, Lee had multiple experiences in physical therapy offices and realized that the physical therapy career field aligned well with his interests. Wanting to experience a different part of the country, he moved to Maine and earned my doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New England. After graduating, he and his wife returned to Oklahoma. However, a love for Maine and it’s access to a year-round outdoor activities fit with our active lifestyles, so they moved back to Maine in the summer of 2015.

Lee’s physical therapy background is primarily in orthopedics with an emphasis in manual therapy, and has found the combination of manual techniques with exercise to be highly effective to treat most conditions. Lee has extensive experience with joint replacements, arthritic joints, repetitive injuries, traumatic musculoskeletal injuries and endurance athletes. In addition to manual therapy, he has advanced training in mechanical assessment and treatment (MDT method) as well as kinesiotaping.

In his free time, Lee still runs competitively, racing distances from the 5K to marathon. He and his wife also enjoy being outside during all seasons so you’re sure to find them hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, skiing, kayaking and cycling.
