Do I need a referral for Physical Therapy?

As long as your physical therapist has at least 3 years of experience you can be treated for ten visits by a physical therapist without a referral from a physician. This means DIRECT ACCESS to physical therapy services without waiting for your physician, diagnostic imaging or a lengthy referral process. You have the power to choose your PT and make the appointment yourself.

Physical therapy can help address common complaints such as lower back pain, neck pain, muscle sprains and strains, dizziness, headaches, joint pain, arthritis and chronic pain; just to name a few. Many times, no additional care is needed beyond what a physical therapist can provide. Often, PTs are trained in different techniques to help address your pain and function, such as kinesiotaping, manual therapy, massage, exercise prescription and injury prevention. A physical therapist can evaluate your body as a whole, and not only look at one particular joint. For example, it’s possible that pain in your leg can be coming from your back, although you may not be having any back pain! Weakness in your hips can cause pain in your knees! PTs are able to take more time with their patients and really listen to their complaints in order to help them get back to life.

At Fitness Forum Physical Therapy, we’ve worked hard to achieve great working relationships with many local physicians and surgeons. When providing physical therapy services, communication and team work is key; and the patient is the most important member of the team! We’ll communicate with your physician or surgeon to update them on your progress and how you’re responding to physical therapy. It is our goal to help you feel better!

Our offices are always accepting new patients. Let us help you GET BACK TO LIFE!
